Why Candles & Wax Melts?
Meet Rachel
A Hint of Olive and Rosemary began in my back garden, a small fairy‑memory space my family created so I could feel close to my mum and mother‑in‑law, who are no longer with us. It was a place of calm when life felt overwhelming. One morning, sitting by the little water feature my husband built, I realised I needed to leave a job that was damaging my wellbeing and choose a life filled with family, nature, and peace.
Spending time outdoors brought comfort and clarity. I found myself gardening more, growing rosemary, flowers, and botanicals that reminded me of the women who shaped me. I started making wax melts using the botanicals I’d grown, and when a friend commented on the beautiful fragrance, the idea of sharing them was born.
Back in the garden, preening my rosemary (my mum’s name), the memories came flooding back and just then, Olive came running outside. That moment inspired the name: A Hint of Olive and Rosemary
Olive for my cheeky, creative daughter; Rosemary for my mum; The A for Antonia, my eldest.
From wax melts came candles because nothing feels more comforting to me than a book, a blanket, and a softly glowing flame. I wanted each scent to tell a story, to evoke memory, and to offer others the same sense of calm I found in my garden. Everyone deserves a peaceful moment to themselves.
Today, this is truly a family business. My husband handles the tech, Olive helps pour candles, Antonia keeps us modern and tests every scent, and even the boys contribute ideas in their own way.
What started as a moment of clarity in the garden has grown into a dream, a small, family‑run business built on love, memory, and the simple joy of slowing down.
